I'm a new fisherman. My friend got me geared up for trout with this Shimano Curado 50e with 15lb braided test and a light 6.5' rod. On our second trip, we put in at Rockport and cut across to Mud Island and headed North up the coast about 10 minutes. We got out to wade fishing with berkley gulp, white and working it slow. On about my third cast, I thought I was hung on the bottom. Then line started peeling off. It pulled my line until I could see the spool and then stopped. I managed to get half of the line back in and here we go again. This lasted 25 minutes and finally it was over.

What a great experience for me, I had only caught a hand full of fish my entire life and was reluctant to go for that reason. We released the fish to fight another day.

Don't know how much it weighed, did not have scales big enough, we know it was over 30 because that was the max of our scales. And we're estimating 50" long.
